Social Wellness

Social Wellness – Fill your tank with love & connection!

Love and connection are basic human psychological needs. Robbins defines it as “the need for communication, unified approval and attachment – to feel connected with, intimate and loved by other human beings”.  In Maslow’s hierarchy of needs, love comes right after our basic physical needs. Social wellness refers to the relationships we have and how we interact with others.

Lockdown Challenges

The times of lockdown during the pandemic have been challenging in relation to love and connection. Especially for those who live alone. But really for all of us, because our interaction with colleagues, friends and family has been limited and often only using digital means.

Some partners and families are separated due to travel restrictions. Some partners and families have enjoyed this time as quality time together. Others find it tough to spend 24/7 together.

Whatever your situation is, please pay attention to it.

Boost Love and Connection

If, in your part of the world, the infections are peaking again, please adhere strictly to social distancing but make an effort to connect with your loved ones regularly via digital means. If in your corner the infection rate is very low, take the opportunity to mindfully meet with family and friends.

Maybe you are single or due to circumstances are spending lockdown alone. Instead of focusing on what you lack, try filling your tank with love and connection. Spend time with good friends and family. Express your love and you’ll see the positive impact on your social wellness. Perhaps consider booking a foot massage too!

Should you be having difficulties in your relationship remember that opposites attract. And we are going through difficult times. Could your quarrels have something to do with personality or cultural differences instead of purely bad, inconsiderate behaviour? Remember that when partners are similar it may be easier, but your differences bring in passion…

If you are currently looking for a life partner, why don’t you start with visualisation? How would your perfect partnership look? Which values and principles, dreams and goals, loves and desires would you share?  Believe in this visualisation and make it your goal. Now you should have some direction and it is about taking just one step forward! Get out there, where this perfect partner might be, even if you can only venture out digitally!
