Midlife Transition from Retrenchment to Entrepreneurship with Julia Butterworth

In this VLOG I discuss midlife transition from retrenchment to entrepreneurship with Julia Butterworth. Julia is a client of mine and has volunteered to share her story.

She has pivoted from working in HR and sales to a creative and digital marketing entrepreneur. The catalyst for her taking the leap was COVID-19 related retrenchment. – Should this not have happened in May 2020, she might be still just dreaming about it!

What will you learn?

My last week blog, “Transition – The time in-between is unpleasant, isn’t it?”, looked into Martha Beck’s Map of Change model. The model explains the different phases that we go through after a catalytic event, which may be something shocking, an opportunity or more of an internal shift that kick-starts the transformation journey.

The four phases of the transformation journey are: Death and Re-birth; Dreaming and Scheming; Hero’s Saga; and the Promised Land.

In this VLOG you further learn the following:

  • How does it actually look like in the “death and re-birth” phase.
  • What does it take to keep moving forward.
  • Where Julia is currently in her transformation journey.
  • What is the value of having an accountability partner.
