Own Your Destiny – Set an Intention for 2021!

In tough times, the people who focus on today and set an intention for future are the ones that will actually make it. I know and I trust that you are one of them. Own your destiny. Set an intention for 2021!

Giving Up?

Total grab. The second wave of COVID-19 with a new variant that emerged strongly in South Africa during the festivities almost messed up our positivity and goal setting for 2021.  – This was “our time” to take a breather and have holidays, meet family and friends. Chill and relax a bit.

Instead, stricter lockdown level was announced, new hot spots identified, walks on the beach (going to beach is really the thing here in South Africa in December holidays) forbidden and all sorts of gatherings and alcohol banned. This was done to minimise alcohol related accidents, violence and therefore trauma patients’ needing hospital care.

Furthermore health workers and other frontline staff are exhausted. People in our close circles are tested positive. Some have mild or no symptoms really, others seriously ill, and some die.

Yes, what a perfect opportunity to feel down, be negative or in denial, turn to all sorts of questionable habits, loose it and give up. That’s it!

But we say NO to giving up. We are going to focus instead. We are going to set an intention for 2021.

Intention Setting!

In early December, we looked at reviewing your 2020. Should you have missed the step, go back and do the exercise. You find the blog here. After celebrating your successes, big or small, planned or unintended you are ready to review lessons learned and move forward.

I am inviting you to look at your life holistically – the different areas of it. The stuff that you have just reviewed and beyond.

Step 1: Pick up paper and pen and list down the different areas of your life: career, health, love, hobbies, parenting, finances etc.

Step 2: Then look at each area of your life and assess them, one by one in the scale 1-10. Where are you at?

Step 3: Note the lower scores. Would these areas be the most important ones to focus on? What do you really, really want in these areas of life? What do you dream about? Is a particular area more crucial than others?

Step 4: This exercise needs not only your rational thinking but intuition too. So, take some time. Listen to your gut. Breath. Go and do nothing. You are likely to come up with the emotion and word that would best describe your intention for an aspired change or personal growth while you are just “being”.

Creating Reality!

Setting an intention plays a role in achieving your goals and dreams. Intention opens you up to receive. An intention is a powerful way to up-level presence, awareness and fullness of “something” in your life.

“Our intention creates our reality.” – Wayne Dyer

So, I am curious. What is that something emerging for you?
